hat About Stump Removal?
Getting rid of a stump tends to be rather straightforward. Now, with that being said, these jobs can be a bit pricier. Since they involve more labor, it'll take longer as well. Fortunately, these projects almost always go off without a hitch. Thus, if you have to remove something from your place, nothing should worry you all that much. As long as you can afford the work, the results should speak for themselves.

How Much Does a Stump Removal Cost in Comparison?
Typically, you'll find that it costs about twice as much to remove the stump as it would have cost to grind it. These costs reflect the additional labor necessary for the job.

Believe it or not, it can take twice as many man-hours to remove one of these rather than grinding it.

At least, if you choose this approach, that thing will be gone for good. Above all, when you go about things this way, you've decided to make a permanent difference.

The tree stump removal process explained:

Digging Out The Stump This is another effective tree stump removal method that ensures that both the stump and the root are permanently removed. Just like grinding, this is also done in steps.

Exposing the roots
The person removing the stump first has to dig all around the stump to expose the roots using either a hoe or a shovel. After reaching the roots, they then have to dig around each root to ensure that they expose as much of it as they possibly can.

If the roots are too large and deep, they can use other methods of removing the stumps.

Cutting the roots
Once all the roots have been exposed enough, it is time for them to be cut. Depending on their size, they can be cut using an ax, loppers, or a root saw. They should be cut into manageable pieces, and the person cutting them should remove as much of them as possible from the ground.

Pulling out the roots
Using a grub hoe, the person removing the stump will then wrench what is remaining of the roots. That should be done down to where the roots connect to the stump.

Removing the stump
After removing all or most of the roots (especially the major ones), it becomes easier for the person removing the stump to pull it out. They may need a shovel to dig a bit underneath the stump and even remove some roots under it.

The shovel can also be used as an aid in lifting the stump off the ground.

Filling the hole
After the stump has been removed, what is left is a big unattractive hole that could be dangerous if left open. Therefore, the person should fill it. The stump could be chopped or ground into sawdust which could be used as part of the filling.

If the stump is not ground, it is key that the person fills the hole with sawdust or loam first to avoid the other filings from collapsing. They should then fill the top with soil, using a small amount at a time and packing it in.

Afterward, they can plant grass or a bush on that soil to help hold it together.

While these are some of the best and most environmentally friendly stump removal methods, others can also be used to remove the stump and the roots. People could burn the stump or use chemicals.

The only downside to those methods is that they could burn or destroy the grass and other vegetation around the worksite.e to edit.

Should You Hire a Professional?

Professionals spend their lives dedicated to a craft. You've got a day job. Whether you remove the stump or grind it, there will be heavy equipment involved. As such, the risk of injury would be much greater if you were the one who was operating things.

The risk goes down quite a bit when it is a professional who is manning the wheel. Thus, from our perspective, spending a little bit would be worth the expense.

Otherwise, who knows what might happen?

Sure, there is only a remote risk of anything ever occurring. Regardless, if you can avoid such danger, we would choose to do so. That way, getting rid of a stump isn't the last thing we decided to do.
